If youre really a software developer, youll pay about 30% of your salary. This happens all the time. If youre really a designer, youll pay about 25% of your salary for what you’re looking to build from scratch.
The way I see it a software developer or designer is to pay a fair amount per hour, and then pay them as a percentage of the total time they work. If they work 40 hours a week, and it takes them about 15 hours a week to get the job done, then theyre getting paid $2,500 per hour. If they work 70 hours a week, and it takes them 55 hours to get the job done, then theyre getting paid $10,000 per hour.
Its a bit more complicated than that but basically, we are defining the basic pay for a designer as the amount they would pay for the same work whether their time is spent creating the same work or taking the same time to find the same work.
Basically though, if youre paying someone to create a work, and youre not paying them for the hours you spend finding the work, then youre not getting your money’s worth.
