I found another one today that was so simple, yet it has me thinking about it long after I’m done with reading it. So many studies have shown that mindfulness has some sort of marginal benefit to our well-being.
For instance, being a good student is an example of mindfulness. Most people are aware that taking a class is a good idea because they can use it to learn or improve on something. But many people also know that taking the same class twice in a row is a good idea because they can apply what they learned from the first class.
In a similar vein, there is a famous study that showed that when you meditate you perform better at school than when you don’t meditate. There is also a study that showed that the better you are at school, the more likely you are to get a good job, and the more likely you are to do well in life. And that’s because good students are more likely to get good jobs.
This is a good point to make and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this saying “It’s a good idea to take the same class twice in a row because you can apply what you learned from the first class.”. In fact, this is a good reason to take the same classes more than once. You can learn something new and apply it in more than one class. And if you take the same class twice in a row you get double credit for it.
I think the fact that we hear it so often is the point.
the fact that we hear it so often is the point.
Well, I don’t know about you, but I get a little sick of hearing this over and over. It’s like, “Hey, why is everyone always saying this? I mean the same principle applies to the same class as well.
The reason is that it makes a lot of sense. In a class you’re supposed to be practicing for the next test, you’re going to learn something new. The test is just going to be easier, so you should take that class again. As a result, when you take the same class you’ll be better prepared for the test, and you’ll have a higher mark.
Why? Because taking the same class you learned the last time you took this class will be more accurate. So, you can apply the same principle to the next class. Like, you know youre supposed to learn how to do this one thing, you’re going to try it, and you’re going to get it done, but youre not supposed to just repeat the process over and over again. Thats the same thing.
This is what is known as a “marginal benefit formula,” and it is the process we use in school to help us learn something new. In general, the more we practice something, the better we get at it so that we’ll be better able to apply that knowledge to other tasks. So, for example, if we practice an activity a lot, we become better at it so that we can apply it to other activities as well.
