In one of the first trailers, the main character’s character looks into the future and notices that the game won’t finish in the next few years. He says that it might be like this in the future, but he doesn’t really want it. He’s probably not a computer genius.
This is a great example of when it’s not a smart person’s idea to just pay for a subscription. If you’ve been spending all of your time on the computer, you’ll have to make up for it in other ways. For example, if you’re a game player, you might have to purchase a new game every few months. This is not something that everyone should be doing…but it is something that everyone should be doing if your addiction is serious enough.

I think this is actually a pretty obvious conclusion to make. If you want your game to survive, you need to make money. In most MMOs, virtual goods are the only way to earn real money. This is not to say that MMOs don’t have other elements of success like the online community and in-game items. But the fact that a game has to be subscription-based to be successful is a very positive sign.
