This isn’t an issue for you because you don’t have to worry about it. But the owner will have to keep track of your rent payments.
By the same token, you should be paying rent on a per-month basis. This is because, on a monthly basis, you should be paying rent on a credit card. You are not paying rent on your landlord. Its the owner.
